Pakistan AI Centers of Excellence (Pak AI CoE)

From Karachi’s 12-hub pilot to a 100-hub national AI skills and innovation grid.

A national qualification ladder for AI workforce development

Pak AI CoE introduces Pakistan’s first structured, nationally aligned AI qualification suite under the National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF). Levels 2 through 5 create a clear, predictable pathway from entry-level digital technicians to full AI engineering competency.

Level 2 — AI-Ready Digital Technician

  • Designed for matric and intermediate students entering the workforce.
  • Covers digital literacy, data handling, safe tool usage, and basic automation.
  • Prepares learners for apprenticeship and Level 3.

Level 3 — Applied AI Technician

  • Hands-on skills in data preparation, annotation, automation workflows, and basic machine learning use-cases.
  • Mapped directly to factory, healthcare, logistics, and service-sector tasks.
  • Strong alignment with CBTA task units.

Level 4 — AI Development Associate

  • Junior developer track with Python, APIs, model integration, and problem-driven prototypes.
  • Bridges TVET and higher education.
  • Leads into Level 5 specialization.

Level 5 — AI Engineer (Specializations)

  • Health AI (triage, radiology support, capacity modeling)
  • Industrial AI (predictive maintenance, quality control, IoT automation)
  • FinTech/GovTech AI (fraud analytics, document pipelines)
  • GeoAI (mapping, routing, environmental modeling)

Why NVQF alignment matters

  • Pakistan-wide recognition by TEVTAs, NAVTTC, and industry.
  • Clear performance criteria, not vague course completion.
  • External verification protocols ensuring quality across cities and providers.
